Why ID Tags Are Really Great ?

Some people might jump the conclusion saying this is just another boring article about ID Tags.

I can assure you it's not.

ID Tags are one of the great inventions and it seems that they never get old. Maybe for some of us it's hard to believe, but they were worn at least as far back as ancient Sparta.

An ID Tag is the informal name for the identification tags worn by military personnel, but not only the army should wear these tags.

Suppose that one day, you get involved in an accident and loose your conscience. Who will be there to say that you are allergic to some medications? The ID Tags you are wearing. Maybe you don't care enough about yourself, but you will probably want to use an id tag for your kids. I mean, think about it, these pieces of metal can be real life savers.

Now let's imagine something more optimistic.

You want to give a very romantic present to your girlfriend but don't know exactly what? Hmm ... A teddy bear ? Come on, everybody does that, but you can do better. The tag will do the job again. Just choose the right shape and size and personalize it with words from your heart. Believe me, this kind of present will be noticed.

You can get a dog tag for your favorite pet. Write your full name and address on the tag and if he ever gets lost, the people who finds him will now how to send him back home.

ID tags are one of the best way to uniquely identify a sport team. No matter if we are talking about baseball, football or soccer, using a tag with an image as logo or meaningful words is the perfect way to reveal the team spirit and make its members proud to wear such a mark.

I knew a teacher who brought id tags for the entire class, just to show her appreciation to the little students. You can imagine their faces. They will never forget this moment.

And I can think of a lot more situations where an ID Tag can be very useful.

Not to mention that, some people are just being cooler wearing a tag. I'm really not the fashion type of guy, but this is the truth.

Now I think I've made my point clear.

ID Tags are really great and everybody can use them.

The place where you can find the largest variety of id tags, with the best engraving quality and over 300 images to choose from is www.yourdogtags.com .

The Piano - Key, Hammer And String - Part 1

The piano, while similar in some of its features too many other kinds of musical instruments, differs materially in several important points from all other kinds. It resembles the Violin, Harp, Guitar, Zither, Dulcimer, in its being stringed. It resembles the Drum, Triangle, Cymbals, Tambourine, Dulcimer, in its being dependent on percussion for the production of its tone; and it resembles the Organ, Clarinet, Concertina, in its being keyed.

But it differs from all of these instruments in the following important points. Firstly, in its being dependent on the player's method of finger push on the key for its quality of tone. Secondly, in its being dependent on rapidity of finger push for its quantity of tone and thirdly, in its being dependent on keys for the means of producing percussion. The actual mechanism of percussion, namely, the hammers, being reachable only through the pressing of the keys.

It is probably from a want of appreciation of this last fact, that the piano has come to be considered rather as a keyed instrument than as a stringed one.

The distinctive feature of the piano is, then, the system of its key mechanism.

As the seat of tone, the wire, is made to sound only by a series of communication, starting with the key, it is therefore necessary to understand the method by which this communication is conducted and kept open.

The piano key is, basically, a lever that's lifts the hammer that strikes the string. It is a lever of the first class, its fulcrum, or prop, lying between the power and the weight. In the case of the piano, this fulcrum, or centre on which the lever works, is placed about halfway between its two ends, the hammer (with some small intermediate mechanism) being the weight, and the finger the power acting on it. The very limited area should be noticed within which the action of the key is confined.

The immediate factor of tone is the hammer. The hammer, by means of intermediate mechanism, being in direct and close contact with the far end of the key, is raised when the near end is depressed by the finger or any weight; and the force with which the hammer is made to strike the string is in proportion to the speed brought to bear on the piano key by the finger at the moment of the push. Quantity of tone is thus the result of the amount of speed used in pushing the key down.

When the string has been struck by the hammer, the hammer falls back immediately, to allow the string to vibrate freely. This fallback of the hammer is, however, not a return to the position occupied by it before the stroke; it does not fall completely back until the key is allowed to rise. When the piano key rises, the hammer returns to its original position, and is ready for the next key push.

It is of great importance for the student to remember that the hammer is always at some distance from the wire. Except during the very short period of time spent in striking; that after having struck the wire it leaves it instantaneously to assume the half position described above; and that it is powerless to do any more work until after the key has been allowed to rise.

Rave History

What is a rave?

An all night event, a rave is where people go to dance, socialise, get high and generally have unhibited fun with other likeminded people. Some say it's about the creation of a community, togetherness and re-connecting with something perceived as lost (anyone remember the glory days of Northern?). Others just say it's about necking loads of pills and getting wasted with your mates in a field.

Where rave?

Normally in an unused warehouse, club, beach, field, aircraft hangar or a sports arena - anywhere which could accommodate a huge sound system and lots of people. In the heydays of the late '80s, the larger Dos attracted tens of thousands of people. The venue would usually remain secret up until hours before the rave was due to begin as means of keeping the police away. Organisers would often have backup sites in mind in case the cops caught wind of them - which they did with increasing frequency.

Etymology?

The word rave first came into use in the UK during the late 50's, referring to the wild bohemian parties of the time. It was next briefly revived by the mods, but didn't come back into usage until the mid eighties illegal London warehouse party scene. However it seems likely that the term 'rave' came from Jamaican usage rather than a revival of any previous usage in Britain.

Who?

Rave crowds are mostly (but not exclusively) young from all sections of society .

Music?

Rave music is now tagged 'dance' music, or as some government pension-planner put it, music with a distinctive 'series of repetitive beats'. Early ravers made the discovery that the combination of ecstasy and music with fast, repetitive beats was a marriage made in disco heaven. The big Dos have a line-up of top name DJs as well as some live performances by dance music bands.

Why so successful in UK in the 1980s?

Theories are many as to why the UK went wild for raving in the late 80s and beyond. It occurred during a period of major consumerism and individualism. Thatcher was telling everyone to look after number one (no such thing as society"!). There was bound to be a reaction to this - a bunch of English DJs had just got back from Ibiza where they had tasted rave culture & ecstasy first hand. Within a year rave culture had flourished. Instead of money and power, rave called for empathy, intimacy, spirituality and the joy of losing yourself in the crowd. (Remember Northern, anyone?) Interestingly, check out a 1986 novel The Last Election, by Pete Davies.

The End?

By the early '90s, the police, Tory government, middle England and tabloid press had all had enough of rave culture. Thatchers government acted, passing the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (1994).

Addressing the issue of raves, Sections 63, 64 & 65:

A 'rave' is defined as a gathering of 100 plus people, at which amplified music is played which is likely to cause serious distress to the local community, in the open air and at night. These sections give the police the power to order people to leave the land if they're believed to be:

How to Make A Cute Music Box for Your Little Boy or GIrl

If you are creative and want to make something special for your little boy or girl, a cute music box would sure bring a smile to their face as well as create a memory to last a lifetime! If you are so inclined, here are the directions for a fun "Whistle While You Work" music box taken from Sharon Ganske's book, "Making Marvelous Music Boxes."

Materials Needed

For the Base, Including Music Box Accessories:

Wooden trunk
9" wide X 5 1/2" deep x 5" high
18 note key-wind musical movement
Turntable, 1"
Key extende, 1/2"
4 wooden bells, 1"
Sandpaper
Wood Sealer

Decorative Accessories for Music Box:

Assortment of Lego buiding blocks
Yellow Lego building board, 5" x 5 1/2"
Border stencil, 1 1/2"-wide design
Acrylic Paint Colors:

To match Lego building blocks

Blue
Green
Red
Yellow

Adhesives and Spray Sealer:

Industrial strength glue
Stencil, Adhesive, or tape
Gloss spray sealer

Tools and Brushes:

Drill with 1/4" drill bit
Old paintbrush
Paintbrush
Paper towels

Stenciling

Sponge brush

Step by Step Assembly Instructions

Step One:

Using sandpaper, sand the wooden trunk of the music box as well as the lid. Next, use an old paintbrush to apply wood sealer to the trunk and lid following the manufacturer's directions. Allow to dry throughly.

Step Two:

Using a paintbrush, paint the sides of the trunk with yellow acrylic paint. Next, paint the lid and bottom of base with blue and bells with red.

Step Three:

Using stencil, adhesive, or tape, center the border stencil between top and bottom of one side of the trunk. Using a stenciling sponge brush, sponge the stencil with green, red, and blue acrylic paint. Dip a small edge of the sponge brush in green acrylic paint, stenciling one side at a time. Blot on paper towels. Then, lighlty sponge one area at a time that is to be green, being careful not to get paint on unwanted areas. Allow to dry throughly.

You will next carefully sponge over the green areas again with enough coats to cover them completely-do not apply the paint too heavily or it will run under the stencil. Do not remove the stencil. Repeat the process with red and then blue. When dry, remove the stencil, and sponge the three remaining sides in the same way. Allow to dry throughly. Spray trunk, lid, and bells with gloss sealer.

Step Four:

Drill a 1/4" hole in the center front of trunk.

Step Five:

Using industrial strength glue, glue a few Lego blocks together for a winding knob. Glue turntable to back center for Lego winding knob.

Step Six:

Glue musical movement inside trunk, making sure the winding-key shaft is centered in hole. Remove the lid. Glue 5" x 5 1/2" yellow Lego building board to top of the lid, making sure it is centered. Turn the trunk upside down, and glue one bell to bottom of the box at corners for legs. Allow to dry.

Step Seven:

Wind the turntable onto key extender. Wind the key-extender onto the winding key-shaft. The turntable is the winding key. Using the remaining Lego building blocks, create anything you desire. Then, you can take the creation apart and build something new as well!

Making a music box for your child can be a lot of fun. All it takes is a willingness to try. Begin today and create a memory to last a lifetime!

I Love Lucy (Season 3) DVD Review

Widely considered one of the greatest, if not the greatest, show in television history, I Love Lucy signaled the ascendance of the prime time TV era. The brainchild of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, I Love Lucy revolutionized the television industry with its extensive use of a live audience and the employment of multiple camera angles. The result of true comic genius, the show's ability to entertain is just as relevant today as it was fifty years ago

Real-life couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz play the prominent roles of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, a married couple living in a New York apartment complex. Ricky is a Cuban-born band leader who wows night clubs with his act, while Lucy is a homemaker. Lucy and Ricky's best friends are landlords Fred and Ethel Mertz who often become intertwined in Lucy's get-rich-quick schemes, screwball ideas, and comic shenanigans. Former masters of the stage, the cast comes across as a likeable bunch, with Lucille Ball stealing the show with her goofy antics and brilliant facial contortions. If ever there were a television classic, then I Love Lucy is it

The I Love Lucy (Season 3) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere "The Girls Go Into Business" in which Lucy and Ethel buy a dress shop, and then struggle with all things business-related including what to name the store. When they fail to sell a single dress, they're forced to sell off the shop Other notable episodes include "Equal Rights" in which Lucy and Ethel demand equal rights (which prompts Fred and Ricky to ask for four separate checks for their dinner). When the girls can't pay, they must wash dishes. And "Oil Wells" in which the Ricardo's and the Mertz's get a hot stock tip from their new Texas neighbors, prompting them to investigate as to whether the new couple is a pair of swindlers

The Soul Of Bollywood Dance!!

Most Indian dances are based on the treatise Natyashastra by the sage Bharata Muni, which explains the Indian art of acting. Acting or Natya is a broad concept which encompasses both drama and dance.

The Natya Shastra was written by the sage Bharata Muni who, it is claimed, was directly inspired by GOD Brahma. The Natya Shastra is incredibly wide in its scope. It consists of minutely detailed precepts for both playwrights and actors. Bharata describes 15 types of drama ranging from one to ten acts. In addition, he lays down principles for stage design, makeup, costume, dance (various movements and gestures), a theory of aesthetics (rasas and bhavas), acting, directing and music, each in individual chapter.

Though its main theme is drama, Natyashastra deals with dance also at considerable length. On one hand, it elaborates various gestures of hands, and on the other, classifies such gestures and movements as either graceful or vigorous; the former, defining the 'lalita' form of dance - 'lasya'; and the latter, its vigorous form 'tandava'. Dance is classified under four categories and into four regional varieties.

The bollywood dances is a jumble of all these gestures and movements, and as per current trend. Hindi film dance steps are easy to learn. If you are a newbie then you can better take bollywood dancing lessons classes from Hindi film dance choreographers or join any classical dance academy/school. Its easy for you to learn bollywood dance steps if you are a born dancer with the blessing of almighty GOD.

Recently NDM dance studios four dancers won four Beauty Pageant titles on August 19, 2006 in USA, California. You can join NDM Dance Studios if you live in the Los Angeles area. You can read more about Nakul Dev Mahajan, the founder & choreographer of NDM Dance Studios at http://www.ndmdance.com/choreographer.php.
